THE BOOTMAKERS' STRIKE,

Sydney, February 16. The proprietors of the Sydney Morning Herald and Evening News each give .£IOOO towards the patriotic f'uud, and a similar amount has been subscribed by Sir Daniel Cooper. Colonel Richardson, Commandant of the New South Wales forces, will take command <if the local contingent for Soudan. Lieutenant-Colonel Rogers remains in char»e here. The troops will embark on the 3rd prox, for Soudan.
Melbourne, February 16. The Cabinet meets to-morrow to consider the question of offering Victorian troops for service io the Soudau. The bootmakers' strike having ended, the bulk of the men resumed work today.
