[REUTERS TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. <—— OFFER OF COLONIAL EXPEDITION TO SOUDAN. Sydney, February 12. At a Cabinet Council held to-day, it was decided to make an offer to the Imperial Government to dispatch from New South Wales to Souakim, within a month, two batteries of artillery, properly horsed, and a battalion of infantry, 500 strong, to form part of the expedition to Soudan. Considerable excitement prevails here in consequence of the decision of the Government. Melbourne, February 11. Sailed, this morning, the Tarawera, for the Bluff. [Per s.s. Wairarapa, at the Bluff.] Melbourne, January 31. A supplement to the Government Gazette contains a proclamation further proroguing Parliament till the 13th March. From further particulars of the railway accident at Cootamundra to hand, it seems that the accident simply resulted from natural causes, owing to the enormous fall of rain in a few hours. Arraugements are being made to erect a temporary bridge over the gap. The question of damages has cropped up, and is is uncertain whether the New South Wales Government are liable, also whether those passengers booking in Victoria cannot sue the Victorian Government. Uncertainty still prevails as to the number of people missing from the train. The creek has been carefully searched for bodies, but only resulted in finding some linen marked " Fanny Nicholls."
