It is cuurrently stated here that the British expedition into Soudan will advance towards Khartoum early in November, by which time it is considered that all the preparations will have been made and the Nile be in a favorable condition for the passage of troops by boat. (Received October 21, 2.40 p.m.) Cairo, October 20. It has been decided to limit the strength of the Egyptian army to 3000 men ; but at the same time there is to be a material increase in the police force.
