(Received October 21, 1.5 a.m.) London, October 20. The cholera epidemic has almost ceased in France, and reports from Italy show a great decrease in the daily number of deaths from that disease. (Received October 21, 2.40 p.m.) Evening. The Tichborne claimant, Arthur Orton, was released from prison today. Arrived, the steamship lonic, from Wellington. Hong-Kong, October 20. Intelligence is received from Tonquin that the Chinese recently attacked the French position at Luyenguyen, but were repulsed with heavy loss.
