[REUTER’S TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph—Copyright, WATCHING TO DESTROY THE CHINESE FLEET. INTENTION OF THE FRENCH TO OCCUPY FORMOSA. (Received September 6, 0.55 a.m.) Paris, September 4. Despatches from China state that Admiral Courbet is watching for an opportunity to destroy the remainder of the Chinese fleet, and that after effecting this object, he will occupy the Island of Formosa, with a strong force of troops.
