The Bank of Australasia has declared a dividend at the rate of 14 per cent, per annum for the past half-year, and carries forward and places to reserve £24,000.
The homeward mails, per Lusitania, from Melbourne, July 25th, were delivered here to-day. Vienna, September 4.
Earl Northbrook, who is now en route to Egypt to investigate the position of affairs in that country on behalf of the British Government, paid a visit to Count Kalnocky, the Austro-Hun-garian Minister for Foreign Affairs, today. The interview, which lasted some time, was of o most cordial nature.
Naples, September 4. The cholera epidemic in this city is rapidly inci easing, and the disease is of a most virulent form. The cases now number a hundred daily, and most of them terminate fatally. The inhabitants of the city ere terror stricken, and obstruct the civil authorities and medical men in their efforts to stamp out the disease.

at Warsaw for the safety of the Czar while in that city. Alexandria, September 5. News has been received that Arab rebels recently made a vigorous attack on the town of Kassala. They were, however, repulsed by the Egyptian garrison, with heavy losses. Capetown, September 5. Piet Joubert (sic) has been elected President of the recently-proclaimed Boer Republic of Zululand.
