The Australian cricketers commenced a match to-day against eleven of the North of England, at Nottingham, The following are the Home team : R. Shrewsbury (captain), Attewell, Barlow, Carnes, Bates, Flowers, Gunn, Peate, Scotton, Selby, and Sherwin. There was a good attendance of spectators, although heavy rain fell during the day, and owing to recent wet weather the wicket was somewhat heavy. The Home team went in first, and were all disposed of for 91. Flowers, caught, 26, was the only one who reached double figures. When the stumps were drawn for the day, the Australians, in their first innings, had lost eight wickets for 95 ; Bonnor, bowled, 38, was the highest scorer.
