Wellington, September 2,
At 11.45 p.m. no information had been made public as to the gentlemen comprising the new Administration, but it is believed the negotiations have so far been completed as to enable the Ministry to be sworn in by to-morrow. A young man named Jacob Hansen, employed by the Wellington Meat Preserving and Refrigerating Company, attempted to commit suicide by hanging himself from a steampipe in the factory. When cut down he was nearly strangled. He had been in a despondent state for a day or two. He was removed to the asylum for examination. Christchurch, September 1. An accident occurred at Linwood this morning. A little girl, four years old, daughter of Robert J. Harrison, was scalded to death by falling into a bucket of water.
An elderly man, supposed to be named Thompson, fell in a fit to-day. He was taken to the Hospital and died almost immediately after. Timaru, September 4,
The woman Bridget Healey, who took poison, died in the hospital last night.
Dunedin, September 2. Dr, Caughtrey, who gave medical evidence at the Burns’ inquest, and advanced the opinion that the man did not shoot himself, as was alleged, has, it is understood, brought the matter under the notice of the Department of J ustice.
