DEFEAT OF THE STOUT-VOGEL MINISTRY.

Our correspondent at Wellington telegraphed this morning;—“ Government were defeated last night by 19 votes—s2 against 33.” The Argus states that—“ Amongst the West Coast members who voted against Government were Messrs Guinness, Menteath, and O’Couor; while Messrs Seddon and Be van voted for the Ministry. On the motion of J. W. Thompson, the following members were appointed a committee to draw up the address-in-reply as amended Messrs Hatch, Gillies, Dodson, and J. W. Thompson. The address was tabled, read, and adopted, and the House adjourned till to-day at 2.30 p.m,, when Mr Stout will annouuce what course Government will take.”
