Arrived, this morning, the Messageries Maritime Company’s steamship Salazie, from Marseilles, June 4th. (Received July 12, 12.50 p.m.) Melbourne, July 12. It is announced that the Hon. Jas. Service, Premier, has been offered a Knighthood. At the banquet given by Government in the Parliament House last evening to celebrate the arrival of the Victorian gunboats, and the inauguration of the new defence system, 200 guests were present, and the event passed off with great eclat. _ The small-pox patients at the Hospital are progressing satisfactorily towards recovery.
