[REUTER'S TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. SUEZ INWARD MAILS. THE STEAMBOAT COLLISION INQUIRY AT DUNEDIN. (Received March 13, 12.40 p.m.) Albany, March 13. j Arrived, at King George's Sound, last evening, the P. and 0. steamship Ballarat with the English mails dated London, 9th February. The Victorian Navigation Board has written to Dunedin to ascertain the nature of the inquiry held there into the collision between the steamers Wairarapa and Adelaide. The Board wish to know whether its proposed inquiry is invalidated by the official inquiry held at Dunedin. With regard to the soundness of ropes used at mines, one experienced mining manager assures a country paper that " he never allows any of his ropes to remain exposed within 4ft. of the ground because he has proved that the urine of clogs—and especially of the kangaroo species—completely rot the strands, and in such n way that the injury remains unobserved unless a critical examination is wade,"'
