KUMARA HOSPITAL.

After the meeting for the appointment of a Resident Medical Officer to the local Hospital and Friendly Societies was concluded, the Hospital Committee held their usual ordinary meeting; present —Mr Nicholson (in the chair), Messrs Davidson, Campbell, Burger, Ziegler, Hannah, Watson, Harris, and Hope. The minutes of the previous meeting, held on the 19th ult., were read and confirmed. The Wardsman’s E,eport was read and received. It showed that during the month of February the total number of patients treated in the Hospital was 13, of whom 5 were discharged, 1 discharged relieved, leaving 7 patients in the institution on the last day of the mouth. The names of those who still remained under treatment were— Michael Lee, of a fractured leg; F. J. Andrews, of an abscess in the leg; George Illman, wound in the leg; Thomas Walmsley, pneumonia; Hugh M'Derraott, contusions and lacerations; John Rouse, erysipelas, &c.; and John Davis, of hemorrhoids. The outward correspondence was read and approved of. A letter was read from Mr Chas. Stockman stating that owing to his removal shortly to Christchurch, he begged to tender his resignation as a member of the Committee.—lt was resolved that Mr Stockman’s resignation be received with regret, and that the Secretary write to Mr Stockman to that effect. Mr W, Nicholson was appointed on the House Committee in the stead of Mr Davidson, who retired by rotation. The committee appointed to consider the question of hot water supply to the bathroom recommended its adoption, and the House Committee were authorised to carry the same into effect; cost not to exceed £ls, Accounts amounting to- .£52 19s 6d were passed for payment. Subscriptions were handed in as follow ; —By Mr C. Harris, 10s; Mr Hope, £2 10s; Mr Burger, 10s; Mr Davidson, 10s; Mr Campbell, £3; Mr Hannan, £l. Total, £B, This concluded the business of the meeting.
