LICENSING COMMITTEE.
The first quarterly meeting of the newly-elected Licensing Committee for the Licensing District of the Borough of Kumara was held in the Court House, Kumara, at noon to-day. All the members were present, viz., Messrs J. O’Hagau, M. Maloney, W. Nicholson, H. Burger, and J. Hannah. On the motion of Mr Burner, seconded by Mr Hannah, Mr W. Nicholson was elected Chairman of the Committee. Denis Hannan applied to have the transfer of his Post Office Hotel license transferred to Bernard J. O’Bourke. The Chairman stated that the Bench were of opinion that the applicant was entitled to the transfer, and the annlication was accordingly granted. William Stuart Hanna applied for the renewal of his license for the Victoria Hotel, in Seddon street.—The Bench were of opinion that the house was not required; moreover, nine months had elapsed since the house was licensed, and a renewal in such case could only be granted at the annual licensing meeting in the mouth of June in each year. The application must, therefore, be refused.
