A deputation of several Presbyterian ministers and members of Parliament waited upon James Service to-day to urge the importance of the colonies uniting to move the Imperial Government to annex the New Hebrides, Solomon Islands,, and New Britain, or to establish a protectorate over the groups. The Premier, in reply, stated that he believed it was England's special mission to civilise and elevate the dark races, and promised that he would consult his colleagues in the matter, and take steps to further the views of the deputation as far as possible. Mr Service added that he attached great weight to the resolutions of Colonial Legislatures, which were bettter than Ministerial action. Sailed, this afternoon, the Union Company's steamship Tarawera, for Bluff. (Received June 7, 2.30 p.m.) June 7. The libel action Hunt v. Age newspaper, has resulted in a verdict for plaintiff, with damages one farthing. The libel complained of was contained in the Age of the 11th April. Adelaide, Jane 7. In the Legislative Assembly last night, Cole's mation of censure on the land administration of the Government came up for discussion. The debate lasted during the sitting and was finally adjoufned. The motion is not expected to be carried.
