After a long correspondence between Mr Sutton, M.H.R., as chairman of the hospital, and the Government re the maintenance of the institution, the Colonial Secretary has forwarded a cheque for £lO5 claimed by the Hospital Committee during the nine months ending 31sfc December. Nelson, February 28. The Colonist's Takaka correspondent wires that a young man named Peter Ozouf was killed at the mill of Mr T. Baigeut on Tuesday night through a jinker running over him. Patea, February 28. John Black, late treasurer to the Patea Council, has been committed for trial for embezzlement of County funds. Other charges against him will be heard to-morrow, and in the meantime he is out on bail. An information was served on George Beamish, late Cauuty dog tax collector, to-day, for embezzlement of County funds. The hearing is fixed for Friday.
