THE NEW SYDNEY CABINET. THE SUEZ MAIL. THE NEW GOVERNOR OF NEW ZEALAND. LUNCHEON TO HIS EXCELLENCY. (Received January 5, 8.10 p.m.) Sydney, January 5. Mr Alexander Stuart has succeeded in formiug a Ministry, and it is announced that the various portfolios have been allotted as follows :—A. Stuart, Premier and Colonial Secretary; P. Jennings, Vice - President Executive Council (without portfolio) ; Dalley, Attorney- General ; J. R. Dibbs, Colonial Treasurer; J. S. Farnel, Secretary for Lands ; H. Copeland, Secretary for Public Works ; Abbott, Secretary for Mines; H. E. Cohen, Minister of Justice; G. H. Read, Minister of Public Instruction; T. A. Wright, Postmaster-General. The majority of the re-elections have been fixed for Tuesday next, and the Ministry will meet the House on the 16 th inst.

It; is generally considered that the new Ministry is weak, and unlikely to hold office for any length of time. (Received January 5, 10.40 p.m.) Albany, January 5.

The P. and O. steamship Clyde, with the inward mail, via Suez and Brindisi, dated London, December 1, arrived in King George's Sound this morning. Adelaide, January 5.

The steamer Victorian, 715 tons, came into collision to-day with the ship Gainsborough, 874 tons. The latter sustained severe damage. His Excellency Sir F. D. Jervois was entertained at luncheon here today prior to his departure for ]STew Zealand. In replying to the toast of his health, he dwelt upon the prospects of the colony in an able and exhaustive speech. He expressed confidence in its future development.

(Received January 6, 1 p.m.) January 6. At the public luncheon to Sir Win. Jervois yesterday, 180 persons were present, including the Ministers and Judges, and the leading citizens. His Excellency in his speech urged caution in borrowing, favored immigration, and advocated the federation of the Australian Colonies.
