ANNUAL LICENSING MEETING.

The first annual licensing meeting fur the Licensing District of the Borough of Kumara was held in the Courthouse yesterday, at noon. The five gentlemen constituting the Licensing Committee were all present, viz., Mr James Holmes (chairman), and Messrs John O’Hagau, Edward James Tamlyn Brice, Alexander Calder Campbell, and Reuben Toms. Inspector Emerson represented the police. The application for the transfer of the City Hotel to William Berdiner from Thomas Wilkinson to the end of the present month was granted. Samuel Solomon Pollock applied for a wholesale license. Thete was no objection ; and the • application was granted. Catherine Callanan applied for the transfer to he'' of Slattery’s Hotel, Main street.—Granted. Louis Zieglei; applied for the transfer to him from Edwin Blake, of the Albion Hotel, corner of Main and Seddon streets.—Granted. Otto William Andersen applied for a license for the Theatre Royal Hotel, Seddon street, and an extension of same till 12 o’clock at night. Inspector Emerson objected, for the reason that there were no means of exit from the bedrooms upstairs in case of fire in the Theatre. On condition that a ladder was constructed and kept convenient to the place to facilitate escape, t’ne objection would be withdrawn. Applicant consented, and the license was granted. Bazille Bremond, Bremond’s Hotel, Seddon street ; 12 o’clock. Inspector Emerson said there was no oVijection to this application. The license was granted. Inspector Emerson reported this house was altogether out of repair; but if applicant was willing to effect improvements the objection would be withdrawn, License granted conditionally.
