* [new ZEALAND PRESS ASSOCIATION.! Wellington, June 9. This morning a man named George Champion was f.iiind dead at the bottom of a precipice on the Ngahaurauga kne. His horse and trap were also found in the gullv, and it is supposed that in the darkness he mistook the road. An inquest will lie held. It is understood that Ii.M.S. Nelson will leave on Monday next for Lyttelton, and the Miranda on Monday or Tuesday for Fiji, the latter conveying his Excellency Sir Anhnr Gordon. The Goldfield’s Committee report with reference to the petition of Weasels, of Barrytown, praying for a reward tor the discovery of a payable goldfield, that the case is not one that should he re-opened, petitioner having accepted a settlement made by his authorised agent.
