The matter of the address to the Irish people, signed by Messrs Longmore, Duffy, Br.iphy, O’Callaghan, and Toohey, was again under discussion in the Legislative Assembly last night, when an animated debate took place on the motion introduced by Francis, expressing disapproval of the address, but accepting the assurance of the signers of their loyalty to the Queen, and avowing the same on behalf of the whole House. After a lengthy discussion, and the rejection of an amend ment by Berry that an address should be s.-nt to Gladstone of approval of h s Irish policy, Mr Francis’s motion was carried by 37 to 24 votes. It is expected that a comet will be observed in Australia some time during the next few days. Sydney, June 9. The Union Company’s steamship Arawata, shortly after leaving the wharf last evening, ran into and sunk the brig Sea Nymph, 289 tons, of this port. The crew of the brig were res-

cued and landed at Fort Macquarrie, and the Arawata then resumed her voyage. It is stated that at the time of the collision the lights of the Sea Nymph were hidden by a ketch, and could not be seen by those on board the Arawata.
