Melbourne, April 11. The man Ross, who w.-is so severely injured by the Queenscliff big gun accident yesterday, died from the effects of his wounds this afternoon. Sydney, April 12. At to-day's meeting of the Australian Jockey Club at Randwick, the race for the Sydney Gold Cup resulted as follows : Floyd's Cunnamulla 1 De Mestre's Sweet William ... 2 Abraham's Rainbow 3 Nineteen horses started. Cunnamulla won by half a length. Time 3min. 30 4 lOsecs. A school girl was over by a tram car to-day in Elizabeth street, and killed. Nothing has been heard of the missing ship Menydon, and all hopes are now abandoned.
