Melboukne, April 10. Mr Eladen, En»irieer-i it-Chief of the Victorian Railways and Roads Department, retires from office on'account of ill-health, and will receive compensation. Sailed on Saturday afternoon, the Union Company's steamer Alhambra, for Bluff. ■j, April 11. Yesterday, at Queenscliff bnttery, one of the forty poundets was fired, when the shell with which it was loaded exploded immediately after leaving the muzzle of the gun, and two civilians who were walking below the cliff, were struck by pieces of them. One of them is so seriously injured that his recovery is not expected. The coach which runs between this city and Lillydale met with an accident this morning. Four persous were injured. _ Sydney, April 10. The Australian Jockey Club Association Meeting commenced to-day at Randwick.
