THE RESIGNATION OF THE MINISTRY.
Wellington, April 11. It is now definitely known that Sir A. Gordon has sent for Sir George Grey, but doubt is entertained that it is with the intention of forming a new Ministry, it being quite competent for the Sovereign or Governor to send for any memb r of Parliament if he should want to confer with him relative to the stiength of parties or other pertinent matters. There is no reason to doubt, but that the Ministry did make the usual recommendations to his Excel-. lencyas to whom it was advisible to send for, hut as yet the l.ame has not trauspired. v SIR GEORGE GREY SENT FOR BY HIS EXCELLENCY. Endeavors were made by the Telegraph Department to charter a steamer on Sunday vo proceed to Kawau, but the astute skippera sniffing importaufc-Government business on hand raided their terms to such an extent that negotiations fell through.
