The Christchurch mail coach left the Bealey this morning at the usual hour, and arrived at the post office at 3.15 p,ui. The Wax work a Exhibition was well patronised yesterday. The musical por* tion of the entertainment forms a great attraction in the evenings, the Messrs Kohler being high-class musicians. The elder of the Kohlers is equally at home on numerous instruments, and plays nightly on the cornet, flageolet (French), ocarina, hydrovitrophone (or the bells), and the harmonium. The “electric boy” also draws immensely. They keep open till ten o’clock each night. The cricket match between the English Eleven and the Australian team which is to visit England shortly was concluded yesterday, and was won by the Australians by six wickets. We believe this is the first occasion on which an All-England Eleven has been defeated in the colonies by an Australian eleven. 0. F. Schafer, the German traveller, died at Callam Park Asylum on the 26th January last.
