DILLMAN’S TO CHRISTCHURCH ROAD WIDENING CONTRACTS. SOLVENCY OF THE WESTLAND COUNTY COUNCIL. [special to kumara times.] Hokitika, October 13. The tenders for the Dillman’s to Christchurch road contracts were opened last night. Langdown, of Hokitika, is the successful tenderer for section No. 4; Martin, of Dillman’s Town, is the successful tenderer for section No. 5 ; and Whelan, of Goldsborough, is the successful tenderer for section No. 6.
A motion for overletting maintenance work hy contracts was lost on a division, Councillors Seddon, Lang, and Dale only voting in its favor. Re the County Chairman’s application for additional grant for school damages, the Premier has telegraphed down £7OO. This enables the County Council to pay all outstanding accounts.
