Sydney, October 12

Several of the small-pox patients at the quarantine station are reported to be seriously ill. Melbourne, October 12. Telegrams are to hand from Port Darwin, announcing, that the Eastern and Australian Mail Steamship Company’s steamer Brisbane, bound from Hong Kong to Brisbane, has struck on a reef in Clarence Strait, about 30 miles from Port Darwin. Assistance has been sent from the latter place, and as the weather is fine it is hoped the steamer may be got off without injury.
