BRITISH AND FOREIGN. London, October 11. The frozen beef brought per steamship Orient, from Melbourne, was sold at Smifchfield market to-day, and realised an average of s£d per lb. The meat was in excellent condition. Vienna. October 10. Baron Von Hay merle, Austro-Hun-garian Minister for Foreign Affairs, died to-day. • Paris, October 10. News has been received that a battle has been fought at Testour, in Northern Tunis, between the Tunisian troops and the Arab insurgents. The engagement was of a sanguinary character, and resulted iu the complete route of the Arabs. Washington, October 10. At a meeting of the Senate, Bayard, a Democrat, was temporarily elected President of the Senate by 34 votes to 32. The Democrats are now obstructing the admission of a new Republican Senator.
