REUTER’S TELEGRAMS.

BRITISH AND FOREIGN. Calcutta, September 2. The latest telegram received by the Government of India, from Afghanistan, reports that Ayouh Khan was on 30th August still in the neighborhood of the city of Candahar, and had made no movement towards opposing the advance of the Ameer’s forces from Khelat-i-Ghilzai.

London, September 3. News is to hand from Limerick that a serious eviction riot took place,to-day between the police and people. . The police succeeded in dispersing the rioters, of whom fifteen were severely wounded in the encounter which took place. The Times to-day publishes a telegram from India stating that news has been received from Candahar that Ayoub Khan has proclaimed his intention of not proceeding with any further hostile action against the Ameer, and that he has invited recruits for a jehad, or holy war, against the English in Afghanistan. The proclamation, however, is believed by the Times’ correspondent to be a ruse on the part of Ayoub to obtain arms.

Paris, September 4. A serious railway accident occurred to-day at Charenton, about four miles from this city, on the Paris, Lyons, and, Marseilles railway. Thirty persons were killed and fifteen seriously injured.' St. Petersburg, September 4. It has transpired that a meeting between .His Majesty the Czar Alexander 111, and the Emperor William of Germany, has been arranged to be held at an early date. It is not yet known where the meeting will take place.

LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS.

Adelaide, September 5. Messrs Joubert and Twopenny, promoters of the recent Adelaide Exhibition, have definitely decided to organise a similar exhibition at Christchurch in the early part of the year. Sydney, September 6. Three fresh cases of small pox have been reported to-day. Two. of the sufferers are children named Spooner, living at Redfern Suburb, to the southwest of this city. The third is that of Clara Haynes, who resides at Camperdown, about three miles to the west of the city. Miss Wailes, who has been suffering from the disease at Woollhara, died last night. THE RANDWICK RACES. Sydney, September 6. The following are the results of todays racing at the Randwick Spring Meeting :
