The United Alpine Company got 2020z5. of gold from the top plates, from 140 tons of quartz. The Just-in-Time got 92ozs. of gold from 65 tons. The Welcome Company obtained 69S ozs. of amalgam from 90 tons. Auckland, May 16. Sir George Grey addressed a crowded public meeting in the Theatre Royal. He was enthusiastically received, and his address lasted two hours. The following motion was carried by acclamation : —"That this meeting accord its thanks for the able and statesmanlike address which Sir George has just delivered, and that it expresses unabated confidence in him as a leader of the people." ,
