[new ZEALAND PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Blenheim, April 11. News was brought into town yesterday evening that a murder had been committed at Waikawera. It is reported that Rawiki Kepa quarrelled with his uncle, Rupoama Peni Peni, jealousy being said to be the cause. Two successive fights took place on •Saturday night, and the wife of Peni Peni assisted Rawiki Kepa to assault her husband, and in the last fight Peni Peni became insensible and died on Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Ra* wiki Kepa was arrested this morning, being found hidden in a hay loft. Auckland, April 9. A little girl named Sarah Evans fell down the steps at St. Mary’s Orphanage bathing-house, and inj ured her brain. Her life is despaired of. April 11. Two railway employes named Grey and Jolly were shooting in the Waikato, when Grey sighted some game. He stood up to fire, but the boat in which they were, lurched, and the gun exploding, discharged its contents, blowing away the back of Jolly’s head and killing him instantly. A carrier, lately in the employ of Ireland Bros., named Charles Wegerlebern, a German, shot himself in the domain with a revolver. He came from Sydney lately, aged 45. He has no relations here. He was lately discharged from the hospital. John Russell, son of the collector of tolls of the Auckland wharves was thrown from his horse at Coromandel, and rendered insensible. The injuries are serious.
