WARDEN’S COURT.
Monday, April 11. [Before H. A. Stratford, Esq., Warden.] The Court opened at 8 p.m. APPLICATION'S. M‘Leod and party v. M'Glone and party. Mr Hannan appeared for the plaintiffs, and Mr Beddon for the defendants. The plaint set forth that defendants held a larger area of ground at Larrikin's than they were entitled to under the Regulations, and plaintiffs claimed the surplus. A large amount of evidence was taken, and it was shown that the three defendants held six men’s ground ; but on the other side it was proved that the plaintiffs held a full claim.
The Warden decided that the defendants should be permitted to select three men’s ground from th’o claim they held, and that the rest be forfeited. Costs to the amount of 18s were allowed to the plaintiffs. Tuesday, April ll The Court opened at 9 a.m. APPLICATIONS. M‘Leod and party applied for permission to drive a tunnel. Granted, subject to the right of Khrull and party. Richard Oliver, Minister for Public Works, by his agent Mr Gow, made an application for a branch head-race.— Granted. Johnston and party applied by their agent, Mr Hannan, for permission to construct a head-race.—Granted. Christiail Olsen applied by liis agent, Mr Hannan, for Uie registration of a water-race in the Stafford district.— The application was referred to Dr. Giles, the Warden of the district. Thomson and party applied by their agent, Mr Barff, for a double area near the Shallow Lead.—Granted. Sellars and party applied for protection to their claim for six months, on the ground that they were unable to work their ground itntil Seddon’s tunnel was completed.—Application refused. Ward and party made an application to the Warden to define the boundaries of the Greenstone Creek at a certain point.—The application was objected to by Mr Sedtlon, on behalf of Sum Chum and party, and the case was adjourned.
