BRITISH AND FOREIGN. London, April 8. Sir M. Hicks-Beach has given notice, in the House of Commons, of motion, censuring the Government for its settlement of the Transvaal difficulty. A bulletin issued this morning reports that Earl Beaconsfield Continues very weak, and is still in a critical state. Bradlaiigh has been re-elected for Northampton. Both Houses of Parliament adjourned to-day till the 25 th inst, for the Easter recess. Telegrams have been received from Algiers announcing that 10,000 troops have been despatched from Prance in view of the difficulty in Tunis, and have been landed at Bona, a seaport on the Algerian coast, near the Tunisian frontier, April 9. Diplomatic correspondence continues between the French and Italian Governments on the Tunisian question, and it has transpired that the French Government has, in its last communication, disavowed any intention to annex Tunis, but firmly insists that French influence shall preponderate in the Principality, LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Adelaide, April 9. The general election which is proceeding in this Colony, has so far proved favorable to the Government, Most of the Ministers have been re-elected. Melbourne, April 11, The Marquis of Normanby is daily improving in health, and is making satisfactory progress towards recovery. Sydney, April 11. The Hawkesbury Autumn Handicap was won by The Barber, Major second, Falmouth third. The Marquis de Ray’s immigrants have been housed in the Agricultural Hall in the Domain, the building having been hired for the purpose.
