His remarks are now understood to refer to England and Germony arranging with France and Austria for acquiescing in a political scheme securing the control to Britain of Asiatic Turkey, an improved seaboard for Germany, and complete isolation of Russia. The continued collapse of Turkey has hastened the denouement. The first probable step will be Austrain occupation of Stamboul. St. Petersburg, December 3. Mirski, the Nihilist, has been reprieved, and sentenced to penal servitude. December 4. Further particulars of the attempted massacre show that the Emperor escaped solely because the order for the departure of the trains conveying the Emperor and baggage respectively was reversed, otherwise the explosion would certainly have been fatal. It is ascertained that the explosives wei’e fired from a house in the vicinity of the line taken by the Emperor. The criminals escaped undetected. The matter has caused profound sensation. December 5. The Emperor arrived here to-day. Berlin, December 3. A very serious colliery explosion occurred at Chemintz, Saxony, Fifty were killed. Quebec, December 3.
