The Hiuemoa conveys Sir George Grey from Kawau to Wangarie to-day, where he will to-morrow turn the first sod of the Wangarei-Kamo railway, which will be followed by a public luncheon. Sir George Grey is not in good health.
Christchurch, March 22
Mounted-Constable Bashford has been finad £1 by the Superintendent of Police for a breach of the police regulations, in not saluting Colonel Brett as a J.P.
Auckland, March 22,
Nelson Ireland, charged with attempting a rape on his own (laughter, was acquitted, the Bench being of opinion that there was not sufficient evidence to justify his committal. Ireland was arrested soon after for assaulting his wife when he got home.
