Bradshaw reports—Bank of New Zealand shares (new issue), £lB 5s ; Colonial Bank of New Zealand shares, 455; National Insurance Company’s shares, 19s 6d; South British Insurance Company’s shares, 535; New Zealand Insurance Company’s shares, 655; Union Insurance Company’s shares, 14s; Colonial Insurance Company’s shares, 4s; Mosgiel Woollen Factory shares, 695; Union Steam Shipping Company’s shares, 160 s ; Scotland and New Zealand Investment Company’s shares, 17s; Cromwell Quartz Mining Company’s shares, 40s ; All Nations Quartz Mining Company’s shares, ss. Money secured on freehold property, 2 and 10 per cent per annum. The Hon. J. Macandrew left for Wellington to-day in the llawea. W. N. Blair, Government Engineer for the Middle Island, leaves for Hokitika on Monday next, to inspect the route for the through line of railway from West Coast to East Coast, and from the West Coast northwards to Nelson.
The Treasurer and the Minister of Public Works will visit the West Coast shortly after the arrival of the new Governor.
