At Sedgley, when a young man was being buried in the parish churchyard, a publican named Budge came forward and poured a bottle of spirits on the grave, saying that a* the deceased had been fond of spirits when in life, he should have some now he was dead. For this he was fined 255, the charge against him being that of desecrating the churchyard.
