KUMARA HOSPITAL.

A meeting of the Kumara Hospital Ward Committee was held last night, at the Brian Born Hotel, Main street. Present: Messrs Dungan (chairman), Riley, M'Gregor, Fraser, Pluhket, Reynolds, Hally, Garguilo, and Wylde (secretary).

After the minutes of the last ordinary and last special" meetings had been read and confirmed the following business was transacted,

The Secretary reported that Mr Andersen had consented to allow the use of the Theatre Royal for a ball, to be held on the Queen's Birthnight, for the benefit of the Kumara; Ward,i,iat a charge of £2. . The following amounts were then paid in for annual tiekets. Mr Garguilo',. £22 ;. Mr M'Gregor, £2; Mr Fraser, £11; Mr Reynolds, £10; Mr Dungan, £2. Mr Fraser also paid in 17s which he had received as subscriptions. .

It was proposed and carried that—- " In consequence of the Kumara Ward receiving no subsidy from the Government or County Council, no patient can (in justice to the subscribers) be admitted unless he is a holder of a ticket."

;It was resolved—" That the above resolution be advertised by means of posters." -.■-■-:., The Committee next resolved to hold a ball on the Queen's Birthday for the benefit of the Ward, that Mr Anderson's offer be accepted, and tlv*t the price of tickets be 5s each.

Subcommittees were appointed for the management of the ball, as follows : Refreshments—Messrs Dungan, Hanna, and Stewart; Music, &c.—Messrs Wylde and Riley; DoorkeepersMessrs Reynolds, Garguilo, Fraser, M'Gregor, Corrigan, Ancher, and Bird. The Secretary next read correspondence between the Hokitika Hospital secretary and himself, and was instructed as to further correspondence. The Secretary stated that he had received a letter from the secretary of the Greymouth Hospital which Mr Kenrick would explain, and concerning which Mr Kenrick had promised to see him.

The Committee then adjourned until next Monday week at seven o'clock.
