Farmers’ Union.

OPABAU BRANCH. A meeting of the above, by order of tbe Provincial Secretary, was hild on August 29th, Mr A, Wright in tbe chair. Mr W. Sobye resigned bis position as chairman. Mr A. Armstrong, deputy obatrmau, was appointed to the vacancy, and Mr A. Wright elto el deputy chairman. A good deal of correspondence was read and received. It was resolved that tbe secretary write to the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce asking their co operation in pushing forward tbe Kawhia Hirbour Railway; also to the Kawhia Harbour Railway League and to local Messrs G. H. 8. and G. Stokewere elected members. It was proposed by Mr U. Ciarson, seconded by Mr W. Davies, and carried:— -‘That the secretary write to Messrs Greenslade and Jennings, M’s.P., asking that endeavours be made to have the Ngutunui short cu« completed.”
