Kawhia Town Board.
The usqal meeting of the above body iyas held,-, in Mr Newton’s Office oh Monday morning last, when there were present—Messrs M'Cardle (in the chair), Jonathan, Turrell and Falwaseer. THE KAWHIA LOAN- ' A letter was read from tho Kawhia County Clerk (Mr C. F. E. Barton), stating that the reason of the delay in the raising of the loan was on account of pbtn nrc s • try n f h i g f irthoomi -if. —The letter w.ts r.-u iv-.d.
The Valuer-General wrote asking fhat an assessor be nominated. By motion Mr W. W. M'Cirdle was nominated for that position.
A short discussion took place relative to the railway, and it was eventually proposed by Cr Turrell and seconded by Or Jonathan-.—“ That the Clerk write to Te Kuiti asking the locil authorities to co-operate with Kawhia in bringing the necessity o:‘ having a trial survey made for a railway to connect Kawhia Harbour and the Main Trunk Line."—Curried.
The Clerk reported that there was a credit in the bank of £7 Is 2d. It was left as an instruction to the Clerk to have rhe Ings cleared from the corner near Mr Fal wasser’s office. Cr M'Cardle resigned the position of chairman, owing to his inability to attend meetings when Parliament wai sitting. The resignation was accepted ’wi h regret, membeis expressing their appreciation of Cr M'Oardle’s services. —Cr Jonathan was unanimously appointed to the vacancy. Crs M'Cardle aud Scott were granted leave of absence.
