AN APPEAL,. At ’bo last meeting of the local County Council an application was made for a grant of £25 to olear the debt off the Kawhia cemetery, "o that it could be handed over to the Town Board. The Council previously voted £24, and all the members were of ■ opinion that the debts incurred should bo liquidated. Bat the question was, how was this to be accomplished. It was found that to make a further grant would be impossible, owing to tho state of the banking account, so Chairman Shaw suggested that an effort be made to raise the amount by public subscription. A list was opened at once aad the following amounts promised :
As the object is a wertby one we trust that the public will readily respond to the appeal. AU donations left at the County office, or the office of this paper, will be acknowledged through our columns.
