M ATTERS BEFORE THE HOUSE Mr Greenslade has presented a large-ly-sign'd petition to the Minister for Public Works asking that the road from the Waitomo Caves and through the Otorohangx Waitoma Valley to Otorohanga should be put in order for traffic aa soon as possible, this being the main thoroughfare from the Marokopa to the Ohaupo stock sales ; and also a great saving of distance for settlers drafting cattle through. Mr Greenslade has also presented a petition with 50 signatures attached from settlers on the Kawhia and Pi rongia main coach road urging upon the Government the necessity for continuing the metalling of the Ka-whia-Pirongia main road—being that portion from ihe end of the metalled road at Te Rau-a moa ou towards Oparau ferry. It is pointed out that this road is the connecting link, not only with Kawbia Harbour, but also the Maio Trunk Bailway. The Kawhia Oounty Council have informed Mr Greenslade that they are cordially in sympathy with the request of the petitioners. At the request of the residents of Kinobaku, Mr Greenslade ia endeavouring to induce the Minister of Lands to acquire and set aside about six acres situated at the junction of the Wbakapirau and Harbour roads—having a frontage to the foresoore of the Kawhia harbour, as a recreation ground.
