AN EXPLANATION.
(to THE EDITOR.) Sir,—l would like to draw attention to what I must consider a misstatement of Cr. Norton’s at the last meeting of the County Courcil. He that “He only authorised Quin to fix up the holes.” What actually happened was that he said that “I was to do the work and he would find the spons” What I raid to him|was that if I undertook the work I’d do it properly, I did only wait was absolutely necessary, and in such a menner that it would be a permanent'job as far as such a job can be permanent; and the Engineer said it was a really good job and chained the work, and also authorised me to finish the job at £B. Through a misunderstanding with Mr Norton I did it for that sum, but am a loser financially, but as 1 do all I can for the benefit of the districb, L am content to.be the loser,—Yours, etc., O. QUIN.
