Oparau.
(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) A meeting of tbe Oparau branch of tbe Sarmers* Union was held last Saturday. Mr C. Bell was appointed delegate to attend the Colonial Conference. Most members here are in favour of making the Union political, which would be a death blow to any legislation not required by farmers, and sudden death to Hon. Mr M'Nab’s Land Bill. We have had two slight feists, but no effect on the pasture is noticed yet. Tbe grass is plentiful and growing. The roads are taking on their winter mantle of mud. This is noticeable most where tbe san does not reach them; where the sun shines and tbe water gets away the mud is soon dried after a spell of wet. Go it Armstrong versus Oparau setders. Make the paper interesting. I suggest that those interested have a look ac the bone of contention. Writ ing letters won’t prove which is right. I guess tbe settlers have the long end of the stick.
