Public Works.

JERVOIS STREET, KAWHIA. Mr H. J. Greenslade, M HR , has written to Mr Petti’ as follows :—“ 1 have to acknowledge yours of the 2nd re the '£7s for the main street. I havo telegraphed the Hon. Hall-Jones asking that the amount should ba at once authorised and expended, and as soon as I receive a reply I will see Mr Burd on the subject. Ho will be in Kawhia next Wednesday.” (By Telegraph ) Mr Greenslade wired us yesterday afternoon :—“ Minister Public Works ’elographs me, ‘ Am issuing authority for £75 for Jervoia Street, Kawhia.” WAIPAUA ROAD, MARAKOPA. Mr Greenslade, M.H.R., has been in commaniertion with the Minister for Public Works re the Waipaua road (Marakopa), and has received the following reply :—“ I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 31st ult., covering letter addressed to you by Mr Jas. A. Johnson, of Marakopa, in reference to the expen diture of the grant for the above road. In reply I have to inform you that the greater part of the vote of £2OO for this road has already been authorised and expended by the District Roads Engineer. The balance of the vote is now being authorised, and it is hoped that it will be possible to do something in the direction desired by Mr Johnson.— Wm. Hall-Jones.”
