Kawhia School Committee.
The usual monthly meeting of the above committee was held in Mr Falwasser’s Office on Tuesday evening last, when there were present— Rev. R. Mitchell (in the chair), Messrs Howes, E. Falwasser, Newton and Turrell. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Votes of thanks were accorded Misses Pearson and Whitcombe for collecting funds for the late school treat; to Miss Bnokericlga for the use of the marquee ; to Mrs Robinson, Te Maika, for the loan of utensils ; to the ladies who so kindly looked after the refreshments; and to Mrs Healy, who generously donated several prizes io tbe sports. The Chairman announced that he had received word that the Board would grant £5 towards the expense of the fence around the children’s gardens, and that they would also re-fund to the committee the amount expended on repairs to the school gates. The following accounts were passed for payment:—H. H- Pettit, £1 Is 8d; P. Ward, £3 15s 6d.
Mr Durham met the committee, to advise as to the best method of allocating prizes for the coming year, and it was decided ,'to give a prize each to boys and girls for most regular attendance ; one each to boys and girls for general good behaviour; one to the Brd, 4th, sth and 6th standards. The meeting then adjourned.
