KAWHIA CLUB
A well attended meeting of the above club was held'.in Mr Falwasser’s office on Friday leist. Five new members were elected. Mr Jonathan’s notice of motion, tabled at the last annual meeting—- *• That the motion re the executive being permanent be reeinded ” then came up for discussion, and was carried. A new’executive, consisting of Messrs M'Cartby, Gosling, Falwasser, Jonathan and Howes, were elected for the current year. It was resolved to have the annual I opening day on November 9tb. The lady members notified they had told a meeting and elected five member!? to f ,rm a ladies committee, viz.— Meiidame? Howee (chair), Gosling, Jonathan, M'Cartfciy and Miss iStevens. The meeting then adjonrned.
Favoured by gloriouj weather, the opening of the courts for the present season on Thursda.y last was a brilliant success, about 30 members and viai tors attending. The courts, which proved to be in excolLnt order, were occupied all day, and many interesting and exciting sets were contested. The ladies generously provided afternoon tea, light refreshments, etc., which were much appreciated.
