SECOND ANNUAL MEETING. The second annual meeting of the shareholders of the above company . was held in the factory ou Saturday last when about 20 attended, Mr L. Wilny (chairman of directors) presid ing. directors’ report. The Secretary read tho directors* report as follows : GsN'jebwMEN,—Your Directors hare t-f report that the wcoud season opened on October 10th last and closed on March 31st, 1905 i Daring that period 466,759 lbs. of milk were purchased from suppliers, producing 16,431 lbs. of butter fat, valued at <5373 Is IIJ6. which produced 18.700 lbs. butter, valued at £733 8s lid, showing ■ gro-e profit of £360 6s 11 id. The general expenses were £267 6s 10d, and the working expenses £252 Ils Gd, thus showing & aett loss on transactions of £99 Os 6Jd Your THrectors regret that the supply his been far below the quantity estimated, and also that some of the shareholders have failed to supply at all. In eons quence the profit and loss account again shows a deficiency Un teas shareholders come forward with the supply promised, your Directors regret to state that it w II be absolutely impx- sible to bring matters to a successful issue. In conclusion your Directors hope that all interested will eudeavoui to increase the supply for the mutual benefit of all concerned, I have the honour to remain, yours faithfully, L. WJLET, Chairman. The Secretary explained that the loss of £99 0s 6|d was increased owing to the fact that three months’ interest was charged this year which should have been on the last balance sheet.
The report and balanoe-jheat were adopted on' tho motion ct Messrs Douglas and Parkinson. general business. A discussion as to whether it would ba advisable to commence operations this season, brought Mr B >e*ea to his feet, who said that tho closing down of the factory would be a serious thing for the whole district. A large number of settlers at the present timi were unable to supply on account of the roads. He, likewise, could not supply but would give the equivalent, and be had prepared a list for those in the same predicament as himielf. He then read the following guarantee: ‘We the undersigned, seeing that there is no prospect of the supply increasing this season, and also comprehending if such is the case, the present suppliers cannot, on their own, without
assistance, continue dairying ; and we who are interested as intending suppliers to keep the factory afloat until such time as the Government fulfill their promises in roading and mr.ke it possible for us to supply, are wilEng to assist by subscribing the amount opposite our respective names.’ (Mr Boesen then headed the list with fiv« pounds.) Tho election of directors resulted as follows :—Messrs Wiley, Shaw, Parkinson, W. Lorenz, and Douglas. Mr W. A. Gosling was elected auditor. The meeting then adjourned.
