Kawhia School Committee.

The usual monthly meeting of the above committee was held at the Settler Office on Tuesday evening 3th, when there were present;—■= Rev. R. Mitchell (in the chair), Messrs Turrell, Howes, E. Falwasser, Gosling and Newton. The minutes of the last meeting iwere read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. From H. H. Pettit, resigning hie position as a member of the committee and also that of acting secretary.— The resignation was accepted with regret, and a hearty vote of thanks ao corded Mr Pettit for the able monnor which he bad carried out his duties.— M| G. J. Howes was appointed acting secretary and authorised to sign cheques with the Chairman, | ACCOUNTS. The following account! were passed for paymentJ. E. Sftott £1 Bs, Miss Siroombe £1 15s, T. Waliace Jis. GENERAL. The Chairman and Mr Turrell (the visiting committee), reported that everything at the school was found in a satisfactory condition. They recommended that the school be scrubbed out, which could be doae for Ss 61 per r -om.—lt was decide! that the recommendation be given effect to. Mr E. Falwasser kindly offered the use of his office in which to bold meet ings in.—Accepted with thanks. The Cuairrnan reported that he had interviewed Mr Durham in reference to 'bo allotment of proposed prizes, D:d stated that they could not sjs how they could allot them in a satisfactory manner.—lt was agreed to leave the matter over till next meeting.—Tho donors of the prizes are Mr and Mrs Howes, Mr and Mri Newton, Mr Turrell and Mr Pettit. The meeting then adjourned.
