At one place 60 German dead were left on the ground. One of his trenches was blown up and a number of prisoners taken. Our troops counter-attacked with great gallantry, despite the difficulties entailed by water-loeged grcund and trenches. On the nights of the 15th and 16ih an attack was made on our lines north of Ypres Canal. The following night a similar attack was made near Neuwe Chapelle. Both were easily driven off with loss to the enrimy. All ground recently gained by the Allies was strengthened and held without difficulty. South of Lys our guns dealt effectively with the enemy's artillery, whose fire ha 3 increased somewhat lately.
Our aircraft made valuable reconnaissances and also successfully engaged the enemy's aeroplanes. One of our aviators recently attacked two German machines in succession. He drove off the first and left the second to be dealt with by our artillery, which brought it to the ground in hostile lineß.
