POTATOES AND STALE BREAD. Received this day, 10.30 a.m. London, Friday. An English governess, who was resident in Berlin tor seven years, haß returned to England. During her stay in Berlin she did not hear a single word of the German atrocities in Belgium. The principal food in Berlin was potatoes and stale bread and dripping. Meat costs Is 6d to Is 8d a pound, and butter 2s 6d. FOOD RIOTS IN GERMANY. WOMEN ATTACK OFFICIALS. • ' % Received this day, -10,30 a.m. Amsterdam, Friday. Telegrams from Berlin state there is rioting in Schonberg. The authorities organised a sals of cheap potatoes and thousands of women formed a queue and waited for hours in the rain, then the officials said only those producing, receipts for the last taxes would get potatoes. The infuriated women stormed the buildings and thrashed the officials.
