"With reference to the correspondence from Rifla Clubs recently referred to headquarters, it-would appear that clu&s are not generally aware that ths sals of rifles or ammunition to them cannot he perraittied during the present juncture, and that there appears to be some misunderstanding ■by' the clubs about rifles and ammunition being available, now. "Accordingly, all Rifle Clubs in this district ars informed that, owing to the exigencies of the present sit nation, no rifles can be issued en payment, nor can any ammunition except the full allowance laid down be issued "When the Department is abla to resume the issue of rifles and ammunition to Rifle Clubs on payment, the fact will be duly made public, but it is hoped clubs will recognise without further question that the Department cannot provide for any demands in tha above respect at present. "It is also requested that Clubs may be reminded through their presidents, of the cor rent channel of correspondence, as many are inclined to write direct to headquarters or mem:bera of Parliament, etc., which \s to be deprecated.-—.
